The Community Agency for Senior Citizens, Inc. (CASC) is a nonprofit organization based in Staten Island, New York, dedicated to supporting older adults aged 60 and above. Founded in 1974, CASC provides comprehensive services including advocacy, benefits assistance, referrals, information resources, and various support programs to enhance the quality of life for seniors in the community. With a mission to deliver quality services and foster independence among elderly residents, CASC operates from its office at 120 Stuyvesant Place and has been a cornerstone of local senior care for over 50 years.
The Challenge
CASC approached Tom&Co. in early 2025 seeking to modernize its brand identity and online presence. The organization's existing logo and branding materials felt outdated, failing to reflect the vibrant, supportive nature of their services. Their website, while functional, lacked engaging content, intuitive navigation, and optimization for search engines, resulting in limited visibility and user engagement. Additionally, CASC wanted to leverage email marketing to promote events and drive donations but had no structured system in place. The goal was to increase awareness, boost online traffic, and encourage community involvement without overwhelming their limited resources.
The Solution
Tom&Co. delivered a full-spectrum digital transformation tailored to CASC's needs, focusing on branding, web development, and email marketing. The project spanned four months, involving close collaboration with CASC's team to ensure alignment with their mission.
Logo Redesign

We reimagined CASC’s identity around warmth, community, and vitality. The new mark features interconnected hands forming a gentle heart/loop, paired with a clean wordmark for legibility at small sizes. A refreshed palette of soft blues and greens communicates trust and growth, with accessible contrast variations for digital use.

  • Accessibility-first color ramps: Primary/secondary tones with AAA-compliant on-dark/on-light pairs and a grayscale for print.
  • Typography system: Friendly geometric sans for headlines; humanist body font for long-form readability.
  • Real-world validation: Tested with seniors, caregivers, and staff for recognition, clarity, and warmth; iterated to improve small-size legibility and screen-reader naming.
Branding Update

Building on the new logo, we refreshed CASC’s core collateral so everyday communications feel unified and professional while staying easy for staff to use. The updated layouts apply the new color palette and typography consistently, improve readability for mailed notices and handouts, and add QR-enabled touchpoints so seniors, caregivers, and partners can reach key resources quickly from any device.

Creative Direction: Emphasized user-friendly design with large fonts, high-contrast colors, and accessibility features compliant with WCAG standards to cater to senior users.
Redesign: Implemented a responsive layout with improved navigation, integrating sections for services, events, donations, and resources.

Email Campaign Setup

We built a sustainable email program that respects inboxes and moves people to act. Lists were cleaned and authenticated (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and audiences were segmented so messages feel relevant rather than generic.
